Udyavara: Minor girl raped; accused nabbed

Kaup: A married man from Chhattisgarh who was working at a fish mill here has been arrested by the police for raping a minor girl from his village and making her pregnant. The incident took place in Udyavara and the accused is identified as Sujan Ram Chauhan (33).
After his pregnant wife had given birth to their child, the accused had got a 16-year-old girl from his village in Chhattisgarh to Udyavara on April 18th to look after his wife and their child. Having made the girl stay at his house, he forcibly had coitus with her. Later the girl fell ill and was taken to the doctors who realized that she was pregnant.
Later the teenage girl filed a complaint with the police based on which Kaup police arrested the accused. A case has been registered against the accused for rape and under the various clauses of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
