Dehradun: The media hype built around Narendra Modi’s participation in the swearing-in of Trivendra Singh Rawat who took oath on Saturday as Uttarakhand’s new Chief Minister drew huge crowds here to listen to the Prime Minister but they were disappointed as he left without addressing them.

However, enthusiastic spectators especially the young among them who stood on their chairs to have a better view of the Prime Minister as he climbed the stage at the Parade Ground were somewhat disappointed in the end when Modi left without making a speech.

As the oath-taking ceremony was over, Modi congratulated the newly-sworn-in members of the BJP government and posed for a photograph with them.

He then moved to the other side of the podium to shake hands with BJP chief Amit Shah, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Khattar and the newly-elected party MLAs.

With the new Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat in tow, Modi left the venue waving to the crowds. This left the enthusiastic crowds, who were eager to listen to Modi, rather disappointed as the party had earlier announced that the Prime Minister and the BJP president will also address the gathering after the swearing-in ceremony.

“I stay on the outskirts of the city and came all the way from there just to listen to the prime minister. But he left without making a speech,” said Saurav, a student of the Petroleum University.
