Mangaluru: The armed robbers that broke into the residence of businessman Padmanabha Kotian in Permanki, Ulaibettu on Friday night, came with plans to steal crores of rupees. They reportedly expected to find around five to six crores in cash and even brought a large sack to carry the money.
However, the robbers did not find as much cash as they anticipated.
The robbers repeatedly questioned the family members about the location of the money, searching the entire house, including under the beds.
It is suspected that the robbers had been told that a large sum of money was being kept in the house, possibly indicating local involvement.
CCTV Footage Insufficient
Some footage of the robbery was captured by the CCTV cameras at Padmanabha Kotian’s house. Additionally, an image of the robbers’ vehicle was captured by a roadside CCTV camera and examined by the police, but it has not been very helpful in the investigation.
Foiled Robbery Plan in 2021
In April 2021, Mangaluru Rural Police arrested a gang planning a robbery in Ulaibettu village. The gang was caught with lethal weapons while lurking in an Innova car, preparing for the robbery.
