Ullal: Mulki has been announced to be a new taluk in Dakshina Kannada district and now there is an announcement of the creation of Ullal taluk, made up of Ullal Hobli of Mangaluru taluk and Mudipu hobli of Bantwal taluk, all coming within the Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency limits.

Excluding 4 villages from the Mangaluru legislative assembly constituency being represented by district in-charge minister U T Khader, all the remaining villages will come under the limits of the new taluk. Thus, Ullal which is growing as an alternative city for Mangaluru will see even more development.

New taluk limits

The new Ullal taluk will contain areas within Mangaluru taluk including Ullal municipality, Kotekar town panchayat, Talapady, Someshwar, Kinya, Belma, Munnuru, Amblamogaru, Harekala, Pavoor, Manjanady, Konaje, Boliyaru villages and areas from Bantwal taluk from the limit of Mudipu hobli including Naringana, Balepuni-Kairangala, Kurnadu, Sajipa Padu, Sajipa Nadu, Ira, Pajir villages. Excluding the areas connecting to the NH 75 within Mangaluru LS constituency including Meremajalu-Kodman, Pudu, Tumbe village will remain attached to Bantwal taluk while all the remaining villages will come under the limits of Ullal taluk.

Due to the creation of the new taluk, it will be helpful for the people of Mudipu hobli which was under Bantwal taluk limits, since because of the lack of government space in Ullal, Mangaluru taluk’s centre position will come to Natekal and Deralakatte limits. Due to the creation of the new taluk, the log standing demands for a playground and fire brigade will be now fulfilled.

Only one request!

Even though the facilities available at the taluk centre are already available in Ullal, some basic infrastructure was lacking which played hindrance to announcing it as a taluk. Mostly, there are fights for the creation of taluk. But Ullal taluk was created only because of a request. Responding to the request sent to the chief minister, no other form of pressure tactics were used for the creation of the taluk which is historical in itself and because of this, the development of the area is even more strengthened, opinioned U T Khader who is the local MLA.
