Ullal: In a significant breakthrough in the investigation of the murder of Kadappura Sameer, police have reportedly confirmed the involvement of five individuals. The murder, which took place as an act of revenge for the killing of ‘Target’ Ilyas, has led to several arrests. Among those apprehended is Mohammad Naushad, the brother-in-law of Ilyas, who has been identified as the main conspirator.

The police have now established that Naushad’s team carried out the crime.

The incident occurred when Sameer, accompanied by his mother and other family members, was on his way to his flat in Pumpwell. As he was speaking on his phone near a commercial complex in Kallapu, a group of unknown assailants in a car attacked him, striking his head and neck with a sword before fleeing the scene. The preliminary probe indicated the attack was an act of revenge for the murder of Ilyas, and police investigations, led by Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, have confirmed this connection.

The murder of Ilyas, which took place on January 13, 2018, was witnessed by Naushad, who was in the house along with Ilyas’s aunt, Asmath, and Ilyas’s young child. The assailants, reportedly led by Dawood and Sameer Kadappura, broke into Ilyas’s flat in Mangaluru in the early morning and killed him. However, the case was later dismissed, leading to a prolonged period of waiting for revenge by Ilyas’s team. Information obtained by the police during the time of the murder indicated that Ilyas’s elder brother-in-law, Farooq, had planned the retaliation, which was only foiled when the police intervened by shooting at and injuring the suspects.

Now, Naushad, who had witnessed Ilyas’s murder, is suspected of involvement in this recent crime. He has been taken into custody, along with others identified as Niyaz from Natekal, Tanveer from Bajal, and Iqbal from Padubidri.

Sameer’s murder was initially suspected to be related to a gold robbery case in Uppala, but the police have now confirmed that it was indeed an act of revenge for Ilyas’s murder. Ullal police are continuing their investigation into the case.
