Ullal buffalo slaughter case: 7 more arrested, items used in killing seized

Ullal: Seven more people were arrested on Monday in connection with the slaughtering of a buffalo near a farm here.
The arrested have been identified as Jayaram Rai (58), Umar (37), Umar Farooq (42), Mohammed Suhail (26), Mohammed Kalandhar (43), Mohammed Sinan (22) and Ilyas (38) from Someshwar.
All are residents of the Dakshina Kannada district.
A pick-up vehicle, a scooter, a rifle, machetes, live bullets, ropes and wooden logs were seized from them.
The owner of the farm at Koliya in Ullal, who was already detained by the police, suffered losses due to the damages caused by the buffalo in his farm. He then bought the rifle and planned to kill the buffalo.
However, when he shot the buffalo, nearby residents rushed to the spot hearing the gunshot causing him and the others he had hired to take the buffalo for its meat escape.
