Ullal: In a late-night incident within the Konaje Police Station limits at Harekal, a bus conductor was robbed of his purse while heading home after his shift.
Muhammad Iqbal, a resident near the Harekal Panchayat and conductor of the State Bank-Pavoor route 55 Sri Kateel bus, was attacked and robbed.
On the evening of August 5, Iqbal had gotten off the bus early near the DYFI office in Harekal to visit a local shop. After purchasing some household items, he was walking home using his mobile torchlight when two unknown assailants approached from behind. They grabbed his hands, gagged him with a cloth, and snatched his purse containing Rs 13,000, which he had earned that day. The robbers then fled.
Hearing Iqbal’s cries for help, locals and his family members rushed to the scene and took him to Natekal Kanachur Hospital. The robbers remain at large.
It is suspected that the assailants might be two young men who had an altercation with Iqbal on the bus earlier in the day. The Konaje police are investigating the incident.
