Ullal: A gas leak caused an explosion at a home in Manjanady village, late on Saturday night, leaving a mother and her three children seriously injured.

The injured—Kubra (40), her children Mehandi (15), Maziha (13), and Mayiza (11)—were immediately rushed to a private hospital in Deralakatte, where they are receiving treatment in the emergency care unit. Their condition is reported to be stable, and they have escaped life-threatening danger.

The incident occurred at the residence of Muttalib Bin Ismail in Kandika, Manjanady. Reports suggest that the family had dinner and retired for the night when the explosion took place. Kubra reportedly turned on a switch while going to the bathroom late at night, triggering the blast.

The explosion caused significant damage to the house, particularly the bedroom and the kitchen’s sheet-roofed ceiling. The kitchen cylinder remained undamaged, but sources suggest that the leakage from a cylinder kept near the bedroom could have caused the mishap.

Local police from Konaje, Tehsildar Puttaraju, and Revenue Inspector Pramod, visited the spot to investigate. The injured were admitted to KS Hegde Hospital, and authorities are assessing the damage to the house.
