Ullal: A 25-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances at Millat Nagar under Ullal police station limits on Sunday night following which her husband has been taken into custody.
The deceased woman was identified as Jamshira. Her husband, Irfan, is being questioned by the police to know the exact circumstances of her death.
Irfan claimed that his wife committed suicide. The couple had an argument after which Jamshira hanged herself to death. He rushed her to a hospital when he found out in the morning. Doctors at the hospital pronounced her dead after which he brought her body back to the house and informed the relatives, sources said.
However, locals suspect this to be a case of murder. They alleged that blood stains were visible on the woman’s dead body.
As soon as the news of the death spread, an irate mob of locals gathered in front of Irfan’s residence and demanded strict action against him.
Irfan, who works at a fish processing factory in Baikampady, had married Jamshira two years ago. The couple has an 8-month-old girl child.
Meanwhile, Ullal police have registered a case and have taken Irfan into custody.
