Ullal: A truck carrying onions crashed near Kapikad near here on the National Highway 66 on Friday.

The lorry was transporting onions from Maharashtra to Kerala when the mishap occurred. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident. The three occupants of the truck escaped with minor injuries, sources said.

The lorry was driven at high speed over the Thokottu overbridge and the driver lost control on the downward slope, sources added.

The sacks of onions spilled over the road. There was a traffic jam on the highway for a while. South Traffic police later arrived and cleared the traffic congestion.

Sources added that a container lorry had overturned earlier at the same spot while trying to avoid hitting a car.
