Ullal: On Saturday night, miscreants placed stones on the railway track near Ganesh Nagar, close to Thokkottu Overbridge, causing a loud noise that startled local residents when a train passed over them.
The incident occurred on the track between Ganesh Nagar and Kapikad. When a train travelling from Mangaluru towards Kerala passed over the track, a faint sound was heard. However, when a train travelling in the opposite direction, from Kerala to Mangaluru, passed over the same area, the resulting noise was much louder, causing vibrations in nearby homes.
The loud sound alarmed local residents, who rushed towards the track with torches to investigate. They discovered that small stones had been placed on the track, which were now crushed.
Residents reported that the stones had been neatly arranged in a row on both tracks. Padma, a local resident, shared that this was the first time in 40 years that such a loud sound had been heard. At around 8 PM, two women returning home after worshipping Koragajja had noticed two unknown individuals near the tracks, leading to suspicions that they were responsible for the act.
Local resident Rajesh informed railway advisory committee members Anand Shetty Bhatnagar and Gopinath Bangambila about the incident. Following their complaint, the Ullal police and railway staff arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.
