Ullal: A group of three individuals attacked toll booth staff at Talapady on National Highway 66 late Sunday night. Police have arrested one person from Ullal in connection with the incident, while two others remain at large.
A group of five youths travelling from Mangaluru to Kerala in an Uttar Pradesh-registered Hyundai i20 car attempted to bypass the toll without payment. When the toll booth staff, employed by IGS Toll Operations, tried to stop it, the occupants grew enraged.
The trio got out of the car, charged at the staff, and attacked them with objects they found at the scene.
Three staff members—Manu, Sudham, and Aman—sustained injuries in the assault and were admitted to a private hospital.
Police said the attackers have been identified as Zulfaan, Nifan, and Fayaz, all residents of Ullal. CCTV footage of the incident has been obtained by the police, who are investigating further.
