Mangaluru: The Ullal town council on Monday launched ‘Ullal Brand’ manure made from the wet waste collected in the city.

Launching the product MLA UT Khader said that the Ullal Brand will be available for Rs 10 per kilogram and will be sold in packs of 10 kilograms.

“This initiative by the Ullal town council should be a model for the entire State and I will suggest to the government to start a Statewide project of converting wet waste into manure,” Khader said.

“We are producing 4 tonnes of manure every month from the wet waste collected from homes, markets and eateries. The manure can be used in farms and gardens. We will be increasing production to ensure that no wet waste is sent to the Pachanady dumping yard at Mangaluru,” said Ullal Municipal Commissioner Rayappa.
