Ullal Tragedy: Man drowns while saving niece from sea waves

Ullal: In a tragic incident at Someshwara beach on Sunday afternoon, a Bengaluru resident lost his life while attempting to save his niece from being swept away by waves.
The deceased, K.M. Sajjad Ali (45), son of late K Abdul Shaikh and resident of Shivajinagar, Bengaluru, drowned during the rescue. Sajjad saved his elder brother’s daughter, who was caught in the waves, but was himself dragged into deeper waters.
Although he was rushed to a hospital in Deralakatte, he breathed his last on the way.
Sajjad, a real estate businessman, had traveled to the coast with 11 family members after attending a relative’s wedding in Padil. He married Alima Rasheeda from Puttur in 2015 and had been residing in Bengaluru. His family had recently shifted to a rental flat in Bannur, Puttur.
Sajjad is survived by his mother, his wife, and three children.
