Ullal: A late-night visit to the Someshwar beach turned tragic as a young doctor died after slipping on a boulder and falling into the sea.

The deceased has been identified as Dr. Ashiq Gowda (30), a native of Ramanagara district.

Dr. Ashiq was a surgeon at the AJ Hospital and had been to the Someshwar beach with a group of friends on the night of Sunday, September 3. The incident occurred at Rudrapade at the beach when the group was on a stroll.

It is gathered that Dr Pradeesh who was part of the group slipped on the boulder and was holding onto the rock face. Dr Ashiq reportedly went to his rescue, but slipped and fell into the sea, and was swept away by the waves.

An overnight search and rescue operation was immediately launched with the involvement of the fire brigade, Ullal police, and local swimmers. However, Dr Ashiq’s lifeless body was found on the seashore on Monday morning.

Dr Pradeesh, fortunately, survived the ordeal.
