Ulturu: Woman’s corpse found in a farm

Udupi: A corpse of a woman with grievous injuries has been found within the limits of Kota police station on the morning of Jan 26th. The deceased is identified as Karku (46), a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Kambhashi village.
The deceased woman was a daily wage labourer and would not return back home for a few days. On the morning of Jan 26th around 8 am, a person identified as Ganesh called Karku’s son Sharath and informed him of fining the mortal remains of Karku had been found at an arecanut farm belonging to Ulturu Chandrakanth. When Sharath reached the location, he found the corpse bearing grievous head injuries, hand injuries and bruises.
Suspected vehicle accident
Near to the location of the corpse, blood was found on the north side of a concrete road here. A pair of slippers along with blood was found on the west side of the mud road going through the farm. There is suspicion that some vehicle hit the woman and then disposed off the corpse in the farm to hide the crime. On Jan 25th around 11 pm in the night, a person identified as Sudheer Shetty had seen Karku seated by the main road. Hence, the incident must have occurred after 11 pm and before 7 am the next day.
Police have registered a case based on the complaint by Sharath stating the death to be because of an vehicular accident or some other reason.
