Bengaluru: BJP MLA Umesh Katti on Friday condemned Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s statement for providing water to Maharashtra.
Addressing pressperson here Katti said, “CM Yediyurappa must stop making such promises. He should think of the development of his state than help the neighbouring states.”
Katti further demanded separate North Karnataka state. “Three districts from Maharashtra and 13 districts from Karnataka must be carved out to form another state,” he said.
BS Yediyurappa on Thursday announced that the Karnataka government would make an understanding with Maharashtra under which the latter will provide 4 TMC water to Krishna and Bhima Rivers to solve the water crisis during summer in Mumbai Karnataka and Kalyan Karnataka.
In turn, the Karnataka government would also release the same quantum of water to Maharashtra whenever needed. “We will make agreement once the popular government is formed in Maharashtra,” he said.
