Umesh Katti’s body to be airlifted to Belagavi for funeral at Bellad Bagewadi

Bengaluru: Preparations are underway to airlift the body of Karnataka Food and Forest Minister Umesh Katti (61) to his native village in Belagavi. Umesh Katti passed away on Tuesday night following a massive heart attack.

Katti’s mortal remains are currently preserved in M.S. Ramayya Hospital in Bengaluru and will be airlifted to Sabra Airport in Belagavi via HAL, sources said.

The body will then be taken to his native village in Belagavi on Wednesday morning.

The public will be allowed to pay their last respects to the departed leader at the factory of Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd in Bellad Bagewadi, Belagavi from the afternoon till 5 pm on Wednesday.  The funeral will be held with full state honours at Katti’s farm in the evening, family sources said.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and several other dignitaries will attend the funeral.
