Undertrial inmate in Udupi sub-jail commits suicide

Udupi: A 32-year-old undertrial inmate committed suicide by hanging himself from the fan in the video conference hall of the Udupi sub-jail here on Sunday, February 3.
The deceased, identified as Amarnath of Kidiyur village in Udupi district had been charged in a rape case and was lodged in the jail for last three months, said jail authorities.
On Sunday, Amarnath hanged himself to a fan in the video conference hall inside the jail premises and committed suicide.
Following the incident, a case has been registered at Hiriyadka police station.
