Union Min Gadkari assures removal of Suratkal toll gate within 15 days

Suratkal: Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has promised to remove Suratkal toll gate within 15 days.
Speaking to the reporters, President of Dakshina Kannada truck owners association, Sunil D Souza said, “Dr G.R. Shanmugappa, State President of Truck Owners Association had met Gadkari on Sep 9 and requested him to vacate the illegal toll gate. Gadkari assured him that he will take appropriate action and remove the toll plaza within 15 days.”
“We will also take part in the protest held by Tollgate Virodhi Horata Samithi on September 13. If the government fails to keep its promise, we will lay siege to the toll plaza,” he added.
The Suratkal tollgate protest committee has called for a public strike in front of the Suratkal toll gate on September 13. Representatives of various vehicle drivers and owners’ associations are expected to take part in the protest.
