Union Railway Minister to Inaugurate World’s First Hospital Train Tomorrow

Sindhudurg: Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the ‘hospital on wheels’ which is called ‘Lifeline Express’ at Sindhudurg Railway station remotely through video conference at 10:00 AM on April 16, 2017.
The Lifeline Express or Jeevan Rekha Express is world’s first hospital train run by the Impact India Foundation. The Lifeline express was started to provide on-the-spot diagnostic, medical and advanced surgical treatment for preventive and curative interventions for disabled adults and children for outreach into inaccessible rural areas where medical services are not available; offered using the Indian Railway Network which is the largest in the world. It was developed in collaboration with the Indian Railways and Health Ministry. This has completed 25 years of service to the poor and under privileged masses of India.
The train consists of 7 coaches and will have facility for the treatment of restoring sight to blinds, mobility to polio stricken, hearing to deaf and smiles to those affected with cleft lip besides dental, epilepsy treatment and cancer services at total free of cost. The service to the needy people will be available at Sindhudurg Railway station from April 16 to April 18, 2017.
