Mangaluru:  In a unique move, a private city bus in the city has paid its respects to Indian defense forces and India’s brave pilot wing commander Abhinandan Varthaman by drawing a picture of the pilot on the bus.

The bus St Antony, owned by Vikram Shetty with the Route number 14D plies between Mangaluru and Kavoor and has presently become famous. While painting this bus, instead of writing the name of the bus on either sides of the body, Abhinandan Varthaman’s digital art has been attached. Besides, “We salute Indian Army” has also been written. The painting work took a whole week and in presently completed. Now the bus is gaining popularity on social media. Many people from various location in the state as well nationally have commented on this uniquely painted bus in Mangaluru and expressed good opinions about it.

Special concept painting

Currently, Vikram Shetty owns three buses and previously too he has painted his buses with a special concept. With the aim to save the traditional folk sport of Kambala, he had installed “Save Kambala” digital art on his bus. Besides he also did the concept painting with the message of “Swacch Bharat”. Now, with the aim to give respect to Indian soldiers, along with the digital art of Abhinandan Varthaman, ‘wesalute the Indian army’ has also been written.

This bus is already installed with GPS because of which information regarding the location and timings of the bus may be found out through the use of Chalo app.

The owner changed, but not the name

Vivian Lobo had given St.Antony bus to Vikram Shetty 10 years back. Mr Shetty chose not to change the name of the bus to prevent any confusion to the passengers.

Salute to soldiers

“For some youth, cinema actors seem like real heroes. So for the sake of patriotism, I thought of installing the digital of Abhinandan Varthaman on my bus. In the same way, the picture has been created as a new concept,” explained Vikram Shetty, St Antony bus owner
