Grief-stricken and unwilling to live apart from her husband, a woman followed her husband in death. The incident was reported from Belapu village here.

The 75-year-old woman passed away on Wednesday morning within 24 hours of her husband’s demise.

In their marriage of over five decades, the deceased couple Krishna Yane Kutty Shetty (80), a resident of Belapu village, and Revathi K. Shetty (75) saw both sweet and bitter moments and overcome all challenges posed by life.

On Tuesday morning, Krishna Shetty died due to age-related ailments. His mortal remains were kept in a freezer box meant for dead bodies so that his children who reside in Mumbai could arrive for the last rites. On Wednesday morning, when his body was brought home for the rites, Revathi Shetty collapsed and breathed her last on the spot.

The couple was cremated together in presence of the family at a field near Belapu Dhoomappa Shetty’s house.
