Unnikrishnan murder: Two more accused arrested

Puttur: The Dakshina Kannada district crime intelligence bureau (DCIB) police on Monday, October 1 arrested two persons in connection with the Unnikrishnan murder case.
Jeetu Saji, 23, and Suhail Nazar, 22, both residents of Ernakulam were arrested from Manjeshwar railway station.

On September 3 the body of Unnikrishnan, an Ernakulam resident was recovered from the Kuppetti rivulet and a case of unnatural death was registered. However, the post-mortem reports revealed that this was a case of murder.
The police got a breakthrough in the case with the arrest of Aurangazeb, 37, from Ernakulam and Muhammed Shamanaz, 23, from Palakkad district on September 7. During questioning the accused revealed that Unnikrishnan had arrived in Uppinangadi on October 30 to recover some amount pertaining to a property dispute case. Later after checking out of the lodge he proceeded towards Nelyadi and was sleeping in the front seat of his car when the accused strangulated him to death and later disposed of his body in the rivulet.
The team was led by police inspector of DCIB, Sunil Y Nayak, and Puttur rural circle inspector, Gopal Naik under the guidance of district superintendent of police, Dr Ravikanthe Gowda, and additional superintendent of police, Sajit J conducted the operation.
