Uppinangady: Lorry crashes into auto-rickshaw; 12-yo boy killed

Uppinangadi: A boy travelling on an auto-rickshaw was killed and three others were seriously injured in a tragic accident on Monday when a lorry rammed into the vehicle they were travelling in.

The incident occurred on the National Highway 75 near Matha here.

The deceased boy has been identified as HiritaMohammed Altaf (12) son of late Ashraf and 6th-grade student of Hirtadka Government Primary School. His mother Khatijamma (46), his elder brother Ashik alias T. Mohammed Asrar (23) and rickshaw driver Siddique (34) were critically injured in the accident.

Khatijamma along with her children was returning home from Mangaluru Bengre. She had got off the bus and had hired the rickshaw to reach her home in Hirtadka. On the way, the lorry heading from Mangaluru to Bengaluru crashed into the auto.

Putur DYSP Gana P. Kumar, Traffic Sub-Inspector Rama Naik and other police personnel visited the accident spot and carried out investigations. A case has been registered in this regard.
