A 51-year-old man was killed by his neighbor following a dispute over a pathway in Uppinangady’s Perla village on Friday night

The deceased has been identified as Ramesh Gowda. The accused, identified as Harish Gowda (38), happens to be his distant relative.

On Friday, a verbal argument had reportedly taken place between the two over the pathway issue.

Later the same day Ramesh had left home on his motorcycle to participate in a temple bhajan event. Only 50 meters from his residence, he was confronted by Harish, who then attacked him with a sickle.

Ramesh attempted to escape but Harish chased him and assaulted him. Ramesh ultimately succumbed to multiple injuries.

Uppinangady police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident, while the suspect remains at large.
