A tragic incident occurred in Uppinangadi when a 16-year-old boy drowned in the river while taking a dip.
The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Salman, a class 10 student at Mani High School.
Salman had reportedly gone to his aunt’s house with his relative Mohammed Ifrar (16). The two boys then went to the river near the Biliyoor dam to take a bath. Unfortunately, Salman slipped and fell into a deep area of the river while Ifrar was saved.
Salman’s family is financially poor, and his father had passed away just a year ago. His mother is also said to be ill. Salman and his younger brother were being supported by their relatives for their education and food.
Salman had been preparing himself for the upcoming SSLC examinations and had even attended tuition on the day of the incident. After attending the class, he had gone to his aunt’s house and then to his younger aunt’s house in Perne. From there, he went to the Biliyoor dam, where he met with his untimely demise.
The incident has left Salman’s family and the entire community in shock and grief. The Uppinangady police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter.
