Uppinangady: A woman, who was severely injured in a lorry two-wheeler collision at Perne here on Saturday, was shifted to the hospital by the intervention of DK District Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr. Rajendra KV.

The lorry that was under contract with the NHAI-related work, hit a two-wheeler. Soon after the accident, the lorry driver fled from the spot. This riled up the crowd that soon gathered at the spot and the situation turned tense.

Meanwhile, the DC who was on his way to Alankaru village for the “Grama Vasthavya” was passing by. He alighted from his vehicle and made arrangements to shift the injured woman to the hospital for treatment.

Locals lauded the humane approach and dutifulness shown by the DC in the incident.
