Uppunda: Cargo train catches fire

A cargo train transporting snacks suffered a fire outbreak resulting in the partial destruction of the goods at Bijur railway station during the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident unfolded as a goods train, en route from Mumbai Kolad to Mangalore Suratkal on October 9 was nearing the Bijoor railway station, Byndoor taluk. The accidental fire erupted within one of the lorries being transported.

Quick to react, the train operator promptly halted the goods train and made efforts to extinguish the flames.

The Byndoor fire brigade swiftly responded to the scene, successfully managing to suppress the fire. Nevertheless, the snacks stored within the affected lorry sustained partial damage due to the fire.
