Bengaluru: The alleged ‘pro-pakistan sloganeering’ after Tuesday’s Rajya Sabha elections led to a fiery exchange of words between Congress and BJP members in both Vidhan Sabha and Vidhana Parishad on Wednesday, February 28.

During proceedings in the Vidhan Parishad, BJP’s N Ravikumar raised the issue of the alleged slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad,” inciting a heated altercation between members of the Congress and BJP. The situation intensified when Congress member Syed Naseer Hussain attempted to interject with a plea to silence Ravikumar, triggering a significant uproar.

Following Naseer Hussain’s intervention, Ravikumar rose from his seat, moving towards Jabbar’s location, prompting marshals to intervene and separate the MLAs.

As the situation escalated, marshals struggled to restore order by restraining the BJP MLAs. All attempts by Chairman Basavaraj Horatti to diffuse tensions proved futile.

Amidst the chaos, Congress representative H K Patil urged both Naseer and Ravikumar to apologize, to which Ravikumar retorted, denying any wrongdoing or malicious intent. Meanwhile, Naseer Hussain offered to apologize if his words had offended Ravikumar.

Uproar in Assembly too

The sloganeering issue caused an uproar in the Assembly too. BJP leaders entered carrying the national flag, drawing an objection from Speaker UT Khader, who cautioned against disrespecting the national symbol. This led to further outcry from BJP MLAs, prompting a ten-minute adjournment of proceedings.
