Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has once again postponed the PSI recruitment exam, following concerns raised by candidates and a court order. The decision brings relief to 102 candidates appearing for the UPSC main exam.

The new exam date will be announced in one or two days, said Home Minister Dr. Parameshwara.

The Karnataka Examination Authority had earlier scheduled the PSI recruitment exam for September 22 to fill 402 vacancies. However, the UPSC main exam is also scheduled for the same day. As 102 candidates from Karnataka are appearing for both exams, many were likely to miss out on the PSI exam. This led to strong demands for the exam to be postponed.

On Tuesday, a delegation of candidates met with Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, requesting the postponement. The minister assured them that he would discuss the issue with the KEA officials before making a decision.

On Thursday, the government confirmed the postponement of the PSI exam. The exam has already been delayed several times due to various reasons. There are concerns that if it is delayed further, there may not be any available dates for the next six months.

Postponement Confusion

On Thursday, there was confusion about the PSI exam postponement. Initially, Dr. Parameshwara announced that the exam scheduled for September 22 had been postponed to September 28. However, after learning that the UPSC exam also falls on that date, the government decided to postpone the PSI exam again.
