What if you were told that you will be charged for every stupid question that you ask at a restaurant? We don’t know about your reaction but Tom’s Diner restaurant in Denver has been doing this in reality for over 20 years. Yes, you read that right!
The hilarious matter came to light when a Reddit user, with the handle @humblemangoes, shared the picture of a food bill of the restaurant Tom’s Diner. Ever since being made available online, the photo has been doing rounds on the internet.
The photo of the food bill shows that apart from mashed potatoes and chicken tender basket, the customer was also charged $0.38 (Rs 27) for asking a ‘stupid question’.
Interestingly, as we checked the restaurant’s menu on Zomato, we saw that the ‘Stupid question’ is actually listed on it.
That’s not all! It seems like, humor is a popular item on their menu. According to a picture shared by an Instagram user, the menu of Tom’s Diner restaurant has more humorous listings.

The restaurant has been doing this for entertainment purposes. Hunter Laundry, general manager at Tom’s Diner told Today Food that it is all in good fun. “It’s meant to be playful. It’s good to keep things light in today’s world,” he said.
He said that his uncle Tom Messina added the funny side option to the menu around 20 years ago to infuse a bit of fun. He further revealed that the staff members are actually instructed to never charge people who actually ask stupid questions. However, they’re encouraged to add a charge on for lively tables.
“When we have a good fun table that engages with us or when they ask about the charge, it’s always fun to add it on,” Landry said.
