Mangaluru: With the Kudroli slaughterhouse refusing to die down, District in-charge minister U T Khader on Tuesday informed that he would write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union urban development minister seeking clarity over the issue.

Speaking to media persons at Circuit house here, Khader said that the proposal to modernise the existing slaughterhouse at Kudroli, at a cost of Rs 15 crore was put forth keeping in mind cleanliness and hygiene issues and had been approved during the Smart City Project Advisory Board meeting. “The same has been sent to the Ministry of Urban Development for its consent but in the meanwhile opposition leaders have resorted to making false accusations against me,” he said adding that he was saddened by the false propaganda.

“Since BJP leaders are opposed to the proposal, I have decided to write a letter to Prime Minister and Union urban development minister seeking permission and clarity regarding slaughterhouse issue. The letter will also seek to clarify if there is any provision to set up a cow shelter (Goshala), as is being demanded, as per the guidelines of Smart City project,” said Khader.

Further, he informed that a district-level ‘Revenue Adalat’ will be held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on November 12. Problems pertaining to land conversion and RTC (Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crop) can be sorted out immediately at the Adalat, he added.
