Varanasi: Uttar Pradesh’s first public toilet for the transgender community was inaugurated in Varanasi by city Mayor Mridula Jaiswal on Thursday.
It was done under the Smart City project to ensure the participation of the community in the cleanliness of the city.
“These toilets are only for third genders and not for others. This was a long-awaited demand as they have faced a lot of difficulties,” the municipal commissioner said. He added, “We plan to build four more of them in the upcoming months.”
