Udupi: Popular lyricist of the Kannada film industry Dr V Nagendra Prasad on Sunday, February 28 during an exclusive conversation with Udayavani announced that Shivaraj Kumar’s upcoming movie Bajarangi 2 has a song about God Dhanvantari.

Dr Prasad has written over 3,000 songs in Kannada including “Appa, I love you,” “Saalutillave” and “Adhyaksha.”

Apart from composing lyrics, he is also a movie director, actor, dialogues writer and music composer.

He is also known to have been involved in theatre where he dabbled roles of acting as well as directing dramas.

Talking about how songs are an invitation to watch movies, Dr Prasad said, “It is more often likely that songs had attracted people to watch a movie than anything else.”

Commenting on how social media is a boon, he added, “People don’t have to wait and ask for other’s opinions in order to know if their work will work or not, today social media provides instant validation and criticism of your work.”

When it comes to writing lyrics to a song that already exists in other languages, he said, “It’s important to bring our element to the song, bring out things that are dear to Kannada and Kannadigas.”

Dr Prasad also asserted that dedication and practice is the key to success whether in music any other career.

Recalling the song Sri Krishna from Bajarangi, Dr Prasad said, “Not many people noticed that the song mentions Lord Krishna and Hanuman in the same song when in reality they both belong to different eras and Hanuman always goes along Lord Ram’s name.”
