Shivani Kava, Mar 26, 2021, 4:28 PM IST
Nihal Tauro, an Indian Idol 12 contestant is the winner of Voice of Udupi and is the former contestant of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Kannada season 15. He is now among the top 10 contestants in Indian Idol 12.
Twenty-one year old Nihal Tauro hails from Moodbidri in Karnataka
Speaking to Udayavani.com, Nihal talks about how he copes with the attention and confidence one needs to carry while singing on stage, ” I don’t discriminate between the stage or audience, I treat both a small stage and Indian Idol stage equally and that is how you gain confidence automatically.”
He further added that confidence comes with practice and since he’s been doing this over the years, he is able to perform with confidence but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t nervous before the performance.

Nihal’s father played a key role in his career in singing, he didn’t have a teacher/guru who taught him singing, “As far as having a guru is concerned, I just want to say that it all comes down to how to inculcate what’s being taught to you. I call my father my guru but he doesn’t agree. I’d like to mention that I picked up singing watching my father rehearse.”
Nihal is currently pursuing his degree through a distance education program.
Nihal claims that he is the only one from Karnataka to be among the top 10 contestants in Indian Idol seasons so far.
“The main reason why I am at this level where I am today is due to the blessings of my parents and my supporters, I would also like to give credit to good luck here,” says Nihal Tauro.
Nihal Tauro has sung the title track composed by Sunaad Gautam for the popular TV show ‘Ginirama’ on Colors Kannada and has recorded a song for the movie Ombathane Dikku starring LoseMada Yogi.
