Vandse: The bodies of two children — Dhanraj (13) and Chhaya (7) — from Nandroli Kukkadbailu, who drowned in a pond in Bellala village, were handed over to their relatives after post-mortem.
Locals had rescued the mother, Sheela, who had jumped into the water to save the children and was admitted to a hospital. After her recovery, she was brought back to Bellala on June 30 with the doctors’ permission.
The children’s funeral was held on Sunday. The grief of their mother Sheela, father Satish Madiwala, and other family members was overwhelming. BEO Nagesh Nayak, school teachers, Kollur station SI Jayashree, local leaders, and various organization representatives were present.
New House Ready; But No Children to Light It Up
The villagers are angered by the fact that the Revenue Department has not yet issued a title deed to the family, who have been living in Bellala for over 50 years.
Satish Madiwala, who lives with his extended family, was constructing a new house near his current home. It was almost completed, and they were planning the housewarming ceremony. The sudden death of the children, who were supposed to bring joy to the new home, has left the family in shock.
