Vasudevan Namboodiri to be next head priest at Sabarimala

Bengaluru: Jalahalli Ayyappa Temple priest, V.N. Vasudevan Namboodiri has been chosen to be the next head priest of the Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple starting November 17, the first day of the Malayalam month of Vrischikom.

Namboodiri is from Palakkad and is presently Melsanthi (head priest) at the Sreejalahalli Ayyappa Temple in the city.

He will serve as the ‘melsanthi’ for one year at the sanctum sanctorum. 

The selection process was held through a draw of lots at the temple premises on October 18.
