Mysuru: Kannada protagonist Vatal Nagaraj has issued a threat in a press conference here that he will launch an agitation if actor and politician Rajnikanth sets foot in Karnataka. Chief Minister designate H.D. Kumaraswamy had extended an invitation to Rajnikanth to visit the State and take a look at the storage levels of the reservoirs and the hapless state of farmers in the State, in response to the actor urging the State to release water to Tamil Nadu. Though Rajnikanth has not yet responded to this invite, the hostility from Nagaraj has already taken root.
Nagaraj alleged that Rajnikanth was giving statements about the Cauvery issue only after he entered politics and called the actor “an anti-Kannada and pro-Tamil agent”. He added that the actor should not enter Karnataka even for film shooting. He also opined that the constitution of the Cauvery Water Management Authority was “dangerous” for Karnataka and “favourable” for Tamil Nadu. He said that Karnataka will lose all its rights of releasing water from its reservoirs and warned that the State will not be able to release drinking water to Bengaluru and Mysuru.
