Veteran Kannada actress Hemalatha passes away

Doddaballapura: Veteran actress Hemalatha passed away on July 2 at a hospital at the age of 70.

Hemalatha had been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack a few days ago. She died without responding to medical treatment, family sources said.

The daughter of renowned theatre artiste late Gubbi Veeranna, Hemalatha was a Bharatanatyam dancer and had acted in several Kannada movies.  She appeared in the lead role alongside Kalyan Kumar in the movie ‘Kalavati’. She also shared the silver screen with legendary Dr. Raj Kumar in the 1966 film ‘Emmay Thammanna.’

She lived in Doddaballapura’s Someshwara Layout in the Bengaluru rural district.

The family has decided to donate her mortal remains to a private hospital in Hesaraghatta, family sources added.
