Mangaluru: The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has called on the Indian government and the international community to intervene and ensure the safety of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Speaking at a press conference in Mangaluru on Saturday, Dr. M.B. Puranik, Regional President of the VHP, highlighted that for several days now, Hindu religious sites, businesses, and homes in Bangladesh have been targeted and attacked. These violent acts have severely violated the human and religious rights of the Hindu minority in the country, causing extensive damage to over a hundred Hindu temples across various districts. The Hindu population in Bangladesh, which once stood at 32%, has now dwindled to less than 8%, and they continue to suffer under relentless jihadi persecution.

Dr. Puranik expressed deep concern over the current situation, stating that Hindu homes, monasteries, shops, offices, commercial establishments, women, children, and their places of worship and faith are no longer safe in Bangladesh.

He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the global community to take effective measures to protect the safety and human rights of the Hindu minority in Bangladesh. He urged India, which has traditionally supported persecuted communities worldwide, to take all possible steps to protect the Hindu minority in Bangladesh. He also warned that jihadists might take advantage of the situation to infiltrate India from across the border, and urged the Indian government to take this threat seriously and implement strict security measures along the border.
