Bantwal: Tension grew up near the Sri Rama Vidya Kendra at Kalladka after few people reportedly raised objection to the presence of two medical students belonging to different communities, both friends, at a house behind the school on Wednesday, July 12th.
According to sources, the two young women were visiting the residence of a Muslim person who was also the relative of one of the girls. Some people noticed this and reportedly resorted to vigilantism.
Bantwal police were tipped off that a group of vigilantes may attack the house with the two women and the Bantwal Police led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Rishikesh Sonawane rushed to the spot and sent away the group.
The police rescued the two students and later safely sent them to their homes, but on different buses from Melkar. The two friends were supposed to leave for Bengaluru the same night, inform sources.
