Vijay Kotian Padu and Bollajira B Ayyappa presented with Pa Go award

Mangaluru: The Pa Go rural reporting awards, for the year 2019 was conferred upon Vijay Kotian Padu, senior reporter of Kannada daily and Bollajira B Ayyappa, senior reporter of Kaveri Times publication from Kodagu district  at a ceremony held at Press club in the city on December 31.

The awards are given annually by the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union

Vijay Kotian Padu was chosen for the award for his report on a girl student who defied death that was published in Vijaya Karnataka’s November 25, 2019 issue.

Bollajira B Ayyappa was chosen for his report on the aggrieved ladies from Kalur involved with the making of food products for a living.

A selection committee consisting of Prof Tukaram Poojary, President of Bantwal Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre: Dr Jayashree B Kadri, Assistant profressor of Mangaluru Car Street Government First Grade College and Kadri Navaneeth Shetty, retired Assistant general manager of Times of India group, chose the above journalists for these awards.

Dr. K V Rajendra, Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner presented the awards. The award ceremony was presided by the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union, Srinivas Nayak Indaje.

Laxmi Prasad B M, Dakshina Kannada District superintendent of police and Vinay Gaonkar, Deputy Commisioner of police were chief guests.
