Vijayapura: A man in Itagi village in Nidagundi Taluk fed his two children food laced with poison after a fight with his wife. While one of his children, aged two, died at the hospital, another one is being treated for food poisoning.

The accused has been identified as Chandrashekhar, a resident of Itagi village.

As per the complaint filed by his wife Savitri, the couple used to have frequent quarrels over his debts. Apparently, Chandrashekhar wanted to sell one of the lands he owns in the village but Savitri opposed the move.

In a fit of rage, Chandrashekhar fed poison-laced egg rice to his children Shivaraj and Renuka on Thursday, June 2.

He had allegedly planned to kill his wife and children and then commit suicide, Savitri said in her complaint.

Further investigations are underway.
