Vijayapura: Festival organised in violation of lockdown

Vijayapura: An incident of a village festival being organised amidst the lockdown was reported from Kannur village in the taluk here.
The ‘Revanna Siddeshwara jatre’ is held every three years in the village.
This time, the district administration had cancelled the festivities in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown.
In spite of the restriction, devotees and villagers decide not to cancel the festival reasoning that it bring bad luck to the village and secretly performed the relevant rituals and rally early on Sunday morning.
The video of the festival celebrations was shared on social media where outrage was expressed on the district administration and police for inaction.
