Nimbaragi was a resident of Balaganura in Alamela taluka and reportedly in love with a girl belonging to another religion.  The girl belonged to the same village and there was a rift between the two families for the same reason.

The police had suspected it to be a case of honor killing.

The case has created a sensation at a time when the top political bigwigs in the state are camping to campaign for the Sindhagi Assembly by-election.

After the recovery of the body. the police have now launched a manhunt for the family members of the girl who he was in love with.

A complaint is registered against the girl’s family members — Ismail Thambe, Ashwaq Thambe, Altaf Thambe, Ibrahim Thambe, Imam Saab Thambe, Bande Nawaz Gothe, and Mehaboob Alaheri.

Police said that the family members along with the girl have disappeared from the village and their whereabouts were unknown.  A special team has been formed to nab them, sources added.

IANS reported the police saying that the girl had informed the victim’s parents about him being assaulted by her family members and relatives.
