Vijayapura district in-charge minister, M.B. Patil praised rescuers’ efforts to safely retrieve the 2-year-old trapped in a borewell in Lachyana village of Indi Taluk.

The rescue operation to save the boy, Satvik, took more than 21 hours but ended with the child being safely brought out on Thursday.

In a statement from Bengaluru, Minister M.B. Patil thanked the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), firefighters, and police for their great efforts in the rescue. He also thanked the locals for helping and the district administration for leading the operation.

Patil said it was a big relief that they were able to save little Satvik, who had fallen into the borewell.

Minister Patil said he had directed the district administration to begin the rescue. He stayed in touch with them until the operation was done successfully on Thursday afternoon.

To prevent such incidents, Minister Patil directed the District Administration to survey all borewells in the district to ensure they’re covered properly, as required by law. He said that strict action will be taken against anyone who leave borewell unsealed.
