Vijayapura: Mother-daughter sitting under tree for shade die from lightning strike

Vijayapura: A mother and daughter were killed and another person injured when struck by lightning.

The incident occurred in Basavanabagewadi taluk’s Kadakola village on the afternoon of Saturday, October 10.

The deceased have been identified as Mahadevi Bhajantri (43) and her daughter Soni Bhajantri (12). Mahadevi’s husband Yankappa sustained injured and has been admitted to hospital.

The husband, wife, and daughter were sitting in the shade of the tree as they returned home from the farm when the lightning struck.

Police officials from Basavanabagewadi police station visited and inspected the spot of the incident.
