Vijayapura: A incident where a private hospital asked the relatives of a COVID-19 dead to pay uncleared bills to claim the dead body has been reported from the town’s Banjara Cross area.

The COVID-19 dead, Raju Bhuvi (40) was admitted to the Koti Hospital about 12 days ago. He died after not responding to the treatment.

His relatives already paid Rs 4.87 lakhs billed to them for his treatment, however, the hospital claimed that Rs 3 lakhs of the bill is still due, hence the dead body will not be given to them until the amount is paid.

Protesting the hospital’s demand the relatives started protesting outside the hospital.

Learning about the situation, police personnel from the Adarsh Nagar Police Station immediately rushed to the spot and tried to control the situation.
