Vijayapura: Thieves attempt to steal sandalwood tree from MLA’s house

Vijayapura: A incident of attempted robbery where the thieves chopped a sandalwood tree in the premises of an MLA’s house to steal it but failed was reported from here on Saturday, November 14.

The tree was in the house garden of Nagathana MLA Devananda Chavan. The thieves were sawing the tree when the house residents were alerted to it by the sawing sound.

The thieves were successful in chopping the tree which fell on the compound wall of the house. On hearing the members of the house approach, the thieves fled.

MLA Devananda has lodged a complaint with the Adarsh Nagar police station and with forest department officials.
